Laura asks…
How does one do business online (affiliate marketing) and keep one’s SSN safe?
Most affiliate and CPA networks are legit in that they do pay if you’ve earned money. And most will safeguard your SSN, just like any other employer. But there are a few that will look OK, will pay its affiliates, but will also sell SSN’s to criminals on the side.
SO, making money online is great. THERE IS NO GRIND! NO COMMUTE! NO BOSS! NO CUBICLE! Plus people make money online all the time.
So if one tries to do that, how can he protect himself from SSN/credit fraud?
P.S. DON’T say “get a real job”, because working online is in many respects BETTER than a real job, if you know what you’re doing.

That’s a very good question and to be honest with you the only time you should ever have to put out your ssn is when it has to do with the taxes. So, be very careful!

Michael asks…
what are the easiest affiliate products to promote if you’re just starting out?
Hi everybody,
I’ve been bitten by the making money online bug and I’m dipping my toe into the water. I’ve joined commission junction affiliate network and I am browsing through all the products that are out there. Obviously, there are certain niches I feel more comfortable promoting but I’m afraid that it wouldn’t generate enough commissions to cover my overhead. I have a few questions for all you affiliate marketing wizards out there.
1.) what are the easiest affiliate products to promote if you’re just starting out
2.) What are some of the easiest and cost-effective ways to generate qualified traffic, and is search engine marketing still a good way to bring traffic or do you absolutely need to have a landing page?
Any other tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. Serious inquiries please. Thank you so much in advance

Hi there,
Here are answers to your questions:
1. The first thing you’d like to consider in choosing an affiliate program is to look at whether it is profitable. Of course, you’d think it’s better to promote something you have an interest in but if no one wants to buy it, then it’s not worth your time and effort.
Clickbank is an affiliate network that you may want to check. There are a lot of products you can promote with good affiliate programs. You can determine which ones are profitable based on the gravity rating.
2. No, you don’t need to have a landing page or a website. Here are recommended ways you can promote products without a site:
- Post on blogs and forums and include your affiliate link. Do not submit useless posts so you won’t be accused of spamming. If you are a valuable contributor, people are more likely to click on your links.
- Write an ebook that contains your affiliate links and give it away for free.
- Write ads on classified sites to promote products.
- Build a Squidoo lens
Hope that helps.

Susan asks…
Why does everyone have such a NEGATIVE attitude towards internet marketing?
When I talk to people about trying out internet marketing, talk to my dad about HOW MUCH BETTER it would be than FLIPPING BURGERS, people think I’m deceived, that I will fall for a scam.
Yet, most affiliate networks are not scams and they do pay. Yes there’s people making money online.
And guess what the general public’s attitude towards THEM is? Internet marketers are “scammers too lazy to get a real job”.
Why?

Reasons;
Many are pyramids which offer no product, or an overpriced product.
Spam
People hounding others to join them.
Companies closing up…..so the loyal marketer who built a business is out of luck.
