Charles asks…
Is Primerica a Scam (Sincere answers only)?
So here’s the thing: Ive done my research on Primerica, and yes, its MLM i guess. They make money off of their recruits. But the products and services are legit. Primerica does Term insurance, which is better than cash value (what most banks do). They invest your money directly into the stock market at higher interests rates then banks, and help people get out of debt. Why are so many people against Primerica? My Uncle is an RVP in Primerica and is one of the most sincere guys I know. Others in the business that he has introduced me to are all down to earth as well. They all want to help people and Primerica is letting them do that. So why am I finding all this primerica bashing online? Its making me very confused. Please help me.

So your question is “why some people say Primerica is a scam or it sucks” instead of “Is primerica a scam?” I think you already know or have this feeling inside you that tells you that Primerica isn’t a scam. But then you go online and read certain things that affects your thinking.
There’s a few reasons why you find negativity about Primerica:
1) Average people are generally negative about almost everything.
2) Primerica is very good at replacing life insurance policies with term insurance. The average agent in the life insurance typically sells whole life or universal life insurance. At Primerica, they sell term insurance 100% of the time. How would you feel when an agent from Primerica takes your client away? So our competitors completely hate what Primerica is able to do for families because they can’t match it.
3) People don’t take time to fully understand the company.
4) People who join the company and quit within 3-6 months would say they didn’t make any money and say Primerica is a waste of time. Primerica pays if people get their license and get to work. If you don’t work, you don’t get paid.
5) They see the $99 and immediately think its a scam. If the $99 is not explained, some people will get the idea the company is a scam. The $99 is a state licensing fee. It gets you into pre-licensing school, which helps prepare you for the state life exam. It also covers your securities licensing if you do certain requirements. If people think the $99 is too much, then whatever they are doing isn’t working. The actual cost of getting all these licenses on your own will be around $1500-$2000.
Have you ever notice that not a single client has written anything bad about Primerica? I search everywhere to see if any Primerica client has written anything bad and I didn’t find any. Why? Its because Primerica does what is right for families. We get them out of debt, help them save for retirement, get the right amount of income protection (life insurance), and help them plan for their future goals.
Anyway, if you have more questions about Primerica, you should ask your uncle, since he is a Regional Vice President. I’m not a RVP yet, but someday I will be.

Robert asks…
Is the ACN pyramid scam legal?
I see some people on here peddling that service, I was just wondering how it is legal?
I understand it is peddled as a telecommunications provider company, but it is definately MLM is this legal?
Is it legal to try to recruit people on yahoo for this (by yahoo’s standards)?

admin answers:
Legal – yes. They have very good lawyers on staff to make sure everything is done legally. Their product (phone service) actually “works”, and, as a former salesman, my commission check (for about $9) didn’t bounce.
Ethical? – Maybe not. Go to a sales meeting and see the kind of promises that are made. MLM is very hard, probably harder than most regular jobs, but that little fact is glossed over.
It isn’t illegal to use Yahoo! To recruit, but it violates the Yahoo! Terms of service (and probably ACN’s, too).
